Girls Rule

On the last post I told you guys about the beer drinking contest! Well the results are in, the judgment is final and the GIRLS WON!!

Quick recap: The night started with a trip to Sky Tacos off of Pico. After enjoying the best shrimp tacos in the world we decided to start the contest immediately. The fact that stomachs were already full we knew it wouldn't be to long before someone wouldn't be able to manage to share anymore room with heavy beer.

Donte downed the first beer, and Jessica followed shortly. Brandon and I finished our first beer around the same time, and then everyone started number 2. Halfway through the second beer we heard a rumble. And that was it!!! Brandon made a quick dash to the restroom and said so long to sky tacos and a beer and a half.

Of course the guys screamed re-match but we shall see. Right now the girls just want to enjoy their victory!!!!!!!

Happy Father's Day

Today is the day to celebrate Dads!!! I wanted to dedicate this blog to my Dad. Thank you for taking the role as our father. I could not imagine our lives with out you. Thank you for all the countless hours of listening to me, helping me, and just being there. You truly are one of a kind, and I think more men should be like you.

I hope you enjoy your special day. Luckily I get to take part in the activities this year since Donte and I are finally back!!

Cheers to you Dad. I love you!

quick catch up

Sorry I have been slow with the post, but I have been on my grind with the whole job hunt routine. The sad thing about California is the recession hit the state hard, so it seems that every state agency is frozen for the moment. Good thing is I landed an internship, but I won't be able to go into court because even though I'm licensed I'm just an intern.

Any-who I will just keep crossing my fingers that California receives a little gold from the sunshine God sends our way almost every day and my state gets back on track.

So for the time being I have a few fun things to look forward to:

1. Spending Fathers Day with my Dad this weekend

2. Going to see the stars from food network do a cook off next weekend at the grove with one of my besties Jessica.

3. And last but not least Jessica and I have teamed up to do a beer drinking challenge against my husband and his friend. All bets should be in. The GIRLS are going to win!!

I will post pics of both the cook off and the beer challenge next week!

There's no place like home.

There's no place like home. There's no place like home. I say this while I click my 3 inch ruby red stilettos. Unlike Dorthy I have to rock the heels instead of the flats. I finally made it back to California. I'm still under the impression that I am not here for good, and that I have a long flight back to Tampa scheduled. But in reality that is not the case!!! I'm back home and it feels good. Real good.

I do miss my friends in Tampa, and hopefully we start planning the trips that we promised to plan. I spent memorial weekend with my besties in LA, and it confirmed my decision to move back. I heart LA. Its my home. I am so happy that my husband and I decided to move back!

Donte and I have a lot of adjustments to make, but I know we will be able to make them. I have a list of things that need to get done, and I am giving my self one month to do them:

1. Get sworn in. Got to make the whole passing the bar official.
2. Find a job.
3. Find an apartment.
4. Find a bar that my hubby and I can hang out at. (No more slug or bar louie for us..sigh..I will miss that about Tampa as well.)
5. Go to the mountains.

The list above does not have to go in exactly that order. I might try to concure number 4 first!!

Bye Bye Florida

The countdown is on! We are leaving Florida this Saturday and it is going to be one long road trip. Having passed the bar will definitely make the move more enjoyable. I won't have to lug around all of my bar bri books, and I will be able to enjoy watching new moon or any other DVDs I choose. Even though I am excited to move back home, I am going to miss so many things about Tampa.

I am going to miss all of my friends and the family we have out here. I am going to miss publix, the worlds best super market. Of course I will miss the fun nights at the Blue Martini, but I know that I will always be able to come back here and visit.

It's time for a fresh start, and so I am anxious to move!

So long Florida. You will be missed.

Fifthteen

Today my nephew turned 15! If you have met him you would understand that it's pretty hard to believe that he is halfway done with his teen years. It's not that he is not mature for his age, its just that I don't want him to grow up just yet. I still want him to be the sweet innocent 10 year old, how he was when I first met him (I became his aunt through marriage). He pretty much is the same sweet kid, but now he is going to start his journey of high school, driving, and ohhh nooooo GIRLS!! As I was talking to him, he was going on about his progress reports from school, and how sometimes he just gets bad grades because the test were just really really hard. When I told him that in high school your teacher doesn't give you progress reports, you pretty much have to just stay up on your grades yourself he looked like his world turned upside. Like high school was going to be this huge change. Which of course it will be.

I tried to remember what I was doing when I was his age. At 15, I think I was ending my sophomore year of high school, and was excited about starting drivers ed so I could get a permit. I think my biggest worry in the world at that time was whether I was going to make the right time in the 800 meters. Life was definitely simple then. Of course if you would of asked me at 15, I would of told you that life was hard. That keeping up my grades at St.Lucy's, balancing track and all the billions of other activities I was involved in was pretty much the hardest thing I would face in life.

Well through the years I faced harder things. I faced the SAT, college applications, the LSAT, law school applications, and now the Bar. I'm sure when I'm 40 years old I will look back at being 28 and I will say the same thing I'm saying now:

That life really isn't that hard.

I'm sure you have heard this before, and I truly believe it. God will not give us anything that we can not handle. So the point of this really long blog is to encourage anyone, at any point they are in life. If your facing hard times right now, it won't be for to much longer. Life is great. Life is good. Try to enjoy it, both the good and the bad. Just enjoy it all!!
